KWR building nominated for the BNA ‘Best Building of the Year 2016’ award

The jury examined 125 submissions and drew up a short-list of 8 nominees for the ‘Best Building of the Year 2016’ award of the BNA, the organisation representing the Dutch architectural sector. Our building, designed by  cepezed, is one of the two nominees in the ‘Simulating Environment’ category. The award will be presented on 19 May at the festive gathering of the BNA in the Tolhuistuin in Amsterdam.

The professional jury of this edition’s ‘Best Building of the year’ is chaired by Hanneke Groenteman and comprises architects Mels Crouwel (Benthem Crouwel), Maaike Westinga (TenBrasWestinga) and Reimar von Meding (KAW), as well as AM director, Ronald Huikeshoven, and Dike Reeve, Roelof Bleker. ‘This year each and every one of the nominated buildings is very special and serves a very different purpose. From a swimming pool, to a tennis court, to a building for international research and a parking garage concealed among the dunes,’ says Groenteman. Apart from the jury award, a public award will also be presented, for which votes can be cast up until 9 May (inclusive) via gebouwvanhetjaar.nl.
