Gerard van den Berg PhD

Gerard has a PhD in geochemistry. Over the past 15 years at KWR he has developed into an experienced project manager and team leader of the Innovation & Valorisation team. The team plays a central role in realising innovations, and in creating social and economic value from knowledge developed by KWR with knowledge partners and end-users in the water sector. As team leader, he heads up a group of professionals and experts who are responsible for shaping and managing KWR’s national and international research programmes, and the development and maintenance of its international knowledge networks. As project coordinator and project manager, Gerard is involved in initiating, implementing and supervising challenging international collaboration projects, such as those within the European Commission’s Horizon Europe programme. He thus fosters collaboration between international research organisations, knowledge providers and end-users within a variety of research themes, such as the circular economy, that fit in with KWR’s expertise and ambition. As project manager of Watershare, Gerard is involved in a unique network that aims to bring together leading knowledge institutes and ambitious end-users in the water sector, for purposes of knowledge sharing and the joint conduct of future-oriented projects.
