Josje Brouwers

Josje Brouwers is a researcher in the Energy and Circular Systems Team at KWR. Josje has a bachelor’s degree in spatial planning and a master’s degree in urban environmental management from Wageningen University. During her master’s she specialized in urban system engineering, which is the discipline of designing circular water, energy, and material streams. At KWR she continues her efforts to promote more circular resource systems through various research projects. Examples of what she is currently working on include the recovery of critical nutrients from wastewater streams and testing the economic potential of green hydrogen. She also has experience in climate adaptation and mitigation via urban greening. For her master’s thesis she quantified the impact of nature-based climate adaptation measures on urban water systems.
