Martin van der Schans MSc

Martin van der Schans is a hydrogeologist and project manager at KWR. His expertise and experience lie in the field of the construction, management and safeguard of the hygienic safety of wells. Operationally secure wells are essential for the sustainable use of groundwater (and heat) from the subsurface. Martin is currently doing doctoral research at TU Delft in the field of well management. He is moreover secretary of the ‘Well Contact Group’, in which well management experts from the Dutch and Flemish drinking water utilities are represented. He has also built a model that provides the basis for assessing the permeation risks of organic soil-contaminating substances from drinking water pipes. Martin regularly runs trainings for the Foundation for Water Education on groundwater and well management.
